Effective Ways to Select Appropriate Sunscreen

With the scorching sun rays outside, it becomes mandatory to take adequate measures for sun protection. In fact, not only summers the strong and scorching sun rays can also damage your skin during winters. Thus, good sunscreen can always protect your skin from tan, skin damage and of course skin cancer. But, prior to selection of appropriate sunscreen that protects your skin from strong UV rays, you need to take care of few basic points:

1. Select According to Your Skin Type- If you have an oily skin, it is more advisable to use an oil free sunscreen. This will prevent the extra sweat and give a more natural look to your skin. Alternatively, individuals with a dry skin can always go for a cream based sunscreen that does  not dry up your skin.

2. Protection from UV rays- sunscreen basically provides protection against strong UV rays. But, as shoppers you should understand that the sun emits both UVA and UVB rays which are equally harmful. Thus, you need to make sure that you pick a sunscreen which effectively blocks both UVA and UVB rays. This will protect your skin from the harmful damage of the sun and prevent skin cancer.

3. SPF- For an effective protection, make sure that you select sunscreen with higher SPF. Individuals with a darker skin tone can go for SPF 15 or 30 while individuals with extremely fair skin tone should go for SPF 50. So, ensure that you make an intelligent selection of SPF that efficiently caters to your requirements.

4. Water Resistant and Sweat Resistant- Be it a cream based sunscreen or a lotion based sunscreen, it is always better to choose a water resistant foundation. This will allow your skin to remain fresh and glowing throughout the day. For a complete look, you can also choose to wear a mineral powder. After application of sunscreen, you can use a mineral powder using a clean brush. This will allow the sunscreen to naturally stick to your skin and give a more glowing appearance.

So, these are some of the few basic criteria which you need to consider before selection and application of sunscreen.
